Exchange Clubs' Child Abuse Prevention Center,
Durham, NC, Names New President

Darnelle AverreThe Exchange Clubs' Child Abuse Prevention Center is proud to announce Darnelle Averre as the new President of the Board of Directors. Darnelle has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Exchange Clubs' Family Center for the past 13 years and has served as Secretary and President. Darnelle previously served as Chairperson for the Friends of the Center Annual Fundraising Event for three years and has worked diligently with the Past Board President, Jim Barringer, to lead the agency to significant growth. Darnelle works tirelessly to help the Center achieve its mission of strengthening families and preventing child abuse in Durham County.

Darnelle graduated from Hardbargers Business School in Raleigh, NC and has worked with The Insurance Center of Durham for the last 11 years. Darnelle has been certified and active in the insurance field since 1973.

Darnelle has been an active member of The Durham Exchangette Club since 1986 and has held the offices of Secretary, President, and Vice President for several terms through these years. Darnelle was awarded the Outstanding Exchangette Award twice during her membership. Darnelle is the Chairperson of the Administrative Council for Banks United Methodist Church for the past 5 years, served as Charge Treasurer for 13 years, and Fellowship Coordinator for the past 4 years.

Darnelle lives in Granville County with her husband, William, and they have two grown children. She and her family are members of the Banks United Methodist Church at Wilton, North Carolina. Darnelle will lead the Center over the next two years through this challenging economy.

The Center wishes to thank Jim Barringer for his leadership and dedication over the past few years and looks forward to Darnelle Averre's leadership in the years to come.

The Exchange Clubs' Child Abuse Prevention Center serves over 250 families throughout the year. Services are provided free to families in their homes and are available in English and Spanish.
